A GARDEN FOR EVERYONE! UN JARDIN PARA TODOS!
For over 100 years, there’s always been a garden at Elysian Heights Elementary School.
Today, this beautiful tradition lives on as the Elysian School Garden, our on-site organic edible garden + outdoor classroom serving all EHAM students, families, teachers, and the greater school community.
Our garden program’s mission is to build community and environmental stewardship via permaculture gardening, composting, and native landscaping. But mostly, we want this to always be a safe place where children can blissfully dig for bugs, taste new foods, make friends with a chicken, grow something beautiful, and along the way, also fall in love with nature.
Elysian School Garden features over 10 raised beds, 2 native pollinator beds, an outdoor classroom + kitchen, a compost hub, and is home to a beloved flock of friendly chickens. We are also a certified Monarch Waystation and ENRICHLA partner.
Elysian School Garden currently offers:
in-school garden enrichment education for every student, community work days, an after-school garden club, open visiting hours, workshops, community green waste collection, a bi-weekly farm stand, take-home harvest bags for families experiencing food insecurity, and last but certainly not least, FREE CHICKEN HUGS!
WANNA JOIN THE TEAM? GOOD! WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The garden is entirely maintained and sustained through volunteer work + donations, which means, we can never have enough help.
If you would like to donate your time, resources, or make a financial contribution so we can keep this space beautiful 365 days a year, please email us at: elysianschoolgarden@gmail.com
